IS LED harmful?

LED therapy generates negligible amounts of heat and does not thermally damage the skin.  It is non-invasive and does not contain any harmful UV wavelengths.  There is absolutely no recovery time needed.  

How many treatments will I need?

You will see visible results after your first treatment but the effects are cumulative. Two treatments per week for three weeks yield optimal results. The recommended frequency of maintenance should be once a month. Wearing sun protection and following a skin care regiment guarantees best results.

What are the different coloured lights for?

Different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin at different depths. This penetration stimulates skin responses that help the skin rejuvenate and heal.

• Red helps cellular repair and circulation. A soothing effect on the external layers of skin is enacted, helping with skin discoloration such as sun and age spots, reduces inflammation, sensitivities and redness leaving behind a more vibrant complexion. This light also stimulates collagen and elastin which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and improves the overall tone of the skin.

• Near-infrared penetrates deeper than red light. By targeting the mitochondria and fibroblast cells it triggers a healing response. This affect is beneficial for accelerated healing cuts and scars, reduced inflammation and stimulation of the lymphatic system. Also Near-IR light stimulates the deeper tissues, which has a healing effect on muscles in the subcutaneous tissues.

• Blue reduces activity in the sebaceous glands, causing less oil production and improves acne symptoms. It also destroys the propioni bacterium on the skin that causes the redness and inflammation from acne. It is used as led acne treatment in Vancouver.

Who is this NOT for?

Pregnant or breast feeding women, having active rosacea, open acne lesions or cold sore breakouts (this might reactivate the virus), usage of phyto-sensitive drugs (such as retinoids, cortisone or steroid injections), sunburnt skin or freshly waxed skin and sufferers of epilepsy and seizures.
